mainstream is a multi-site, multi-disciplinary research and translation team from across Australia that has been created with a united purpose to better understand eating disorders and improve treatments for people with a lived and living experience of eating disorders, their families, carers and supports.
The core team has developed the overall structure and governance processes of mainstream, consulted with content experts, state organisations and lived experience peer researchers, and set the research agenda for the Centre.
The core team meets on a fortnightly basis, hosted by the InsideOut Institute of Eating Disorders at the Charles Perkins Centre, University of Sydney, with the New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria translation teams monthly, and with the wider investigatory team on a project-by-project basis to co-ordinate all projects listed below.
mainstream is articulating the need for thorough and meaningful research into Australia’s health care systems by investigating all publicly available data to identify knowledge gaps prior to linking previously siloed health system data into the national surveillance system.
