carer coaching program evaluation

This project is embedded within the larger project of collaboratively developing and embedding research and evaluation within a community-based eating disorder service.

Community-based eating disorder services offer unique opportunities for community members affected by eating disorders to receive information and peer-led support. The Carer Coaching Program at Eating Disorders Victoria is an 8-week psychoeducational, skills training and strengths-based support program for carers of a young person with a restrictive eating disorder awaiting formal treatment. This is a flagship program which was co-designed by people with lived experience of caring for a young person with an eating disorder, and is facilitated by lived experience carers offering people a unique opportunity to receive peer support. However, research and evaluation practices remain limited, meaning that outcomes are not appropriately evaluated.

The current project will evaluate the effectiveness of the Carer Coaching Program on clinical outcomes in carers – specific outcomes will be decided upon through co-design meetings.
